Through digital learning grants from the Department of Education and Youth, St. Sylvester’s Infant School has identified and installed Interactive White Boards (IWB) across all of our classrooms and Special Education Rooms.
Further examples of our commitment to developing our pupils digital literacy skills are as follows:
- Each classroom is also equipped with a visualiser to enlarge and project books and items onto the interactive white boards to complement teaching practices.
- There are multiple sets of iPads that pupils and staff have access to that support the exploration of different topics, participation in classroom and school wide quizzes, enable independent learning activities and allow photographs to be taken of key pieces of work.
- Classes have access to Beebots to support the exploration of STEM based learning.
- Classes also have access to light boards that support the development of fine motor skills and creativity.
Children are not permitted to bring electronic equipment, electronic games, mobile phones or any smart technologies (e.g. smart watches).
Due to their young age children are also not permitted to bring trading cards to school e.g. Match Attax/Pokemon cards etc. This is to avoid conflict between pupils or pupils becoming upset.
